Richard Brown was born in the UK and enjoyed a highly successful career in retail senior executive roles. After working in seven different countries, he finally settled in Melbourne with his wife and two daughters in 2003. Since then, Richard has held two Chief Operating Officer roles with large retail companies.

Lurking behind the retail prowess, Richard has always had a keen interest in photography and video. He created media for both himself and friends including a TV series of underwater documentaries.

As his talents for photographic work grew, so too did his desire to help not-for-profit companies. Many of these organisations cannot afford commercial production rates to produce professional video and other media. This led to Richard’s founding of Sunset Films, a not-for-profit production company.

When I first met Richard Brown from Sunset Films, I must admit I was blown away by his experience and professionalism.  Working with Sunset Films on the first series of Money and Your Life has been fantastic, the crew were always on location on time for every episode.  The opportunity to work with Richard gave me the guidance I needed to get a great production across for the viewers, his time management for all meetings and deadlines have always been met and if there was some chance that a deadline will be missed, he will find a way to get things done.  On a personal level, Richard has always made me feel comfortable on and off set and is always open to hear your feedback on any ideas.  I want to thank Richard and his crew at Sunset Films for all the hard work and effort in putting together a great quality TV show.  I look forward to working on future projects with you.

Sunset Films volunteered time to help Wildlife Victoria capture essential footage during the Black Saturday bushfires of 2009 and other Wildlife Victoria projects. The quality of the work produced by Sunset Films was outstanding. Richard’s dedication and professionalism is admirable as well as his patience in sometimes stressful situations. We thank Richard and Sunset Films for all of his work to date and look forward to working on more projects together in the future.

On behalf of the Committee of Management, staff and volunteers at Better Hearing Australia, we wish to convey our deepest gratitude to Richard and the Sunset Films team.  Sunset Films have assisted our not-for-profit charity with professional You Tube, website, educational and photography promotional materials. These productions have enabled us to not only support our organisation nationally but promote our free hearing advisory services to the community along with our National 2010 Melbourne Conference. We are very lucky to have Sunset Films as a Better Hearing friendship partner. Thank you Richard and Sunset Films for your wonderful help and support to Better Hearing Australia

I would like to say a big thank you for Richard and the Sunset films crew. They invested enormous amount of time and effort documenting and editing my video journal of my fund-raising trip Scootering the nation for the next generation.?The video diaries they created from the 5 months journey helped tremendously to promote my trip as well as helped my family and friends to see my progress and brought them closer to me.?There are not enough words to express my gratitude and appreciation for Richard’s and his crew help. So once again a big thank you Richard. (edit)

A huge thanks to Richard and Sunset Films for producing Save the Children’s Laos Cycle for Education promotional video. We came back from our trip with a lot of amateur footage that we needed put together into something presentable which Richard kindly did, with amazing patience and in an incredible turnaround time. Without Sunset’s pro bono assistance, we would not have been able to share the visuals of our charity challenge. Now we have great videos for both our website and You Tube to share with all of our supporters. Thanks again Richard, all your work is much appreciated. Sally Roberts Partnership Coordinato
